HOUSE IN DOBŘÍŠ

About the Project

The family house in Dobříš was designed as a compact living space in close connection with the garden.

The aim was to create a home closely linked to greenery, in a layout that can adapt over time to the changing needs of the client. The design also allowed for partial self-build. Within a floor area of 250 m², a generous new-build was developed, comprising two bedrooms, an open living space with a kitchen, two bathrooms, several atria, a double garage, and a workshop. The architecture is based on a regular structural grid with a 4,500 mm module, formed by timber H-columns. Both interior and exterior walls are constructed from masonry blocks, while the roof structure consists of timber trusses. A lightweight metal roof with an overhang wraps the entire volume, protecting the house from southern sun exposure and giving it a calm, horizontal expression.

+ Visualisation

The house is oriented towards the southwest, with views of greenery present in almost every part. Where direct visual connection to the garden was not possible, atria take over this role, bringing light and air deeper into the layout. An adjoining structure accommodates two garage spaces, a workshop, and technical facilities. When needed, it can be fully opened and used flexibly for work, play, or informal gatherings.

A cylindrical volume projects from the side of the main structure, housing a private bathroom with a relaxation area and a stove for sauna rituals. This materially and formally distinct element, with a circular skylight and refined façade detailing, creates an intimate setting for everyday rituals.
